This has been a bumper April season for those taking part in Daytona Beach Fishing, it has been a great Spring break period for the city as well with good number of tourists coming to enjoy Daytona Beach, fishing or in other ways.

It wasn’t just those on Daytona Beach Fishing tours who found the fishing good those on the piers and on land had a great time towards the end of the month especially with plenty of Pompano of good sizes (15 to 18 inches) as well as Flounders, Whiting, Reds, Blues, BlackDrum and Sheapshead. Fisherman did have to pause at one point though as a herd of Manatee’s past on their annual migration close by the pier.

Those who have been taking Daytona Beach Fishing trips have been reporting plenty of good sized fish about; Mahi Mahi of about 40 pounds are being reported but we will get a better idea of what sizes the fish have got too after the two tournaments being run at the beginning of May.

Those going for shorter Daytona beach fishing trips in close to the land and by the Ponce inlet have found plenty of Mackerel to catch, the weather has been good and water fairly calm meaning they have come into the shallower waters making them easy to catch on a line.

At the same time Trout and Flounders and been forthcoming in the shallows too and in the inlet and over towards the Tomaka basin and river.

For those taking a longer Daytona Beach fishing tour along in shore waters: heading up the Tomaka river is certainly worthwhile at the moment. As well as trout there are a lot of Redfish here, in fact there seems to be little anywhere else but the basin right now.

There are some good spots for fishing on the lagoons as well and some spots in particular, you may prefer to have a guided fishing tour therefore to help you find the best places based on what you are fishing. The BlackDrum especially are good in a few sports on the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon.

Along at the Matanzas inlet you can get some big fish coming in with the tide so plan your trip in line with tides and be willing to head out late in the evening or early in the morning if you need to. If you make the effort you could be rewarded with some very good-sized Pompano again, also Whiting and this is currently the best place in the Daytona Beach area to catch Ladyfish. A recent competition here was able to keep plucking good fish out of the water for hours and the sizes should keep on getting bigger for the next month without the numbers falling.

If your thinking about Freshwater fishing then St John’s river is the place to go though numbers are still lower than normal because of a bit of cold weather round the middle of the month. If you want to catch some Bluegills you should have some luck however with live crickets being the best bait to use.

If you enjoying heading out on the open water to go fishing, you’ll be glad to know we’ve compiled some helpful fishing tips for your perusal. These tips are intended for use by people saltwater fishing. Freshwater is another animal altogether, so keep that in mind before scheduling a chartered boat or anything like that.

Before you get out on the water, you should spend some time familiarizing yourself with the equipment you’ll be using. Learn how to cast a line and reel in a catch properly. Learn to tie knots and how to bait. These are excellent ways to prepare for your trip before you even get near the water. It’s a good way to ramp up your excitement for the trip, too!

Try to go fishing when there is ebb tide. This is most conducive to making a catch. Also, keep a close watch on the weather for the day, including wind reports. Certain fish are more likely to appear during certain kinds of weather as well as during different phases of the moon. Do your research and learn what kinds of fish you’re most likely to catch given these conditions and the area.

You may want to go out with a guide on your first fishing trip. This way, he can show you the best spots to fish and what to look for. Pay careful attention so you’ll know what to look for the next time you go out on the water on your own.

Another of our important fishing tips is to select an area and only fish on the borders of it. This way, if you make a catch and the fish are thrashing about, it won’t scare away other fish in the area. Learn the signs that fish are present. Reefs and areas near the coast are good choices but if you really want to get the full effect of saltwater fishing, head out into deeper water. If you see a bunch of birds circling and landing on the water, fish are present. Follow the birds!

Finally, it’s important to stick it out in one location for a good amount of time before moving onto the next. It can be frustrating to just sit and wait for fish to bite, but if you aren’t patient, you could really miss out. Use at least two different kinds of bait in each area before moving onto the next.

Hopefully, these fishing tips help you the next time you’re out on open water!

For starters, you might want to consider Tampa fishing since there are docks all over the place that allow you to cast down a line and make a catch. Or, you can check out some of the wildlife attractions like Busch Gardens Africa. This park features roller coasters and other theme park fare, but it also has a Serengeti Plain section where you can enjoy wildlife.

Another nearby attraction is the Lowry Park Zoo, which offers a variety of attractions for animal lovers everywhere like lorikeets and manatees. Or, you can check out the Florida Aquarium, which offers access to all sorts of sea life. You don’t have to just partake in Tampa fishing to enjoy these creatures. Rather, this is a great way to bring the whole family along to see all different kinds of fish and mammals native to the region.

Yet another outdoors-themed attraction is the Big Cat Rescue. It’s a wildlife sanctuary spanning 45-acres that’s home to 140 different wild cats. Tigers, lions, you name it, it’s there. You can go on a guided tour of the entire area, watch the animals being fed and generally being cats. What’s great is all of these animals were rescued from circuses, zoos, or homes.

If you want to enjoy the beach, you’ll need to leave Tampa a bit and head into Pinellas County, where Clearwater Beach and Caladesi Island State Park are both terrific options for relaxing and basking in the sun. And remember: docks are nearby, so you can easily enjoy Tampa fishing while you’re at it. Or, head out on a chartered boat for some deep sea fishing experiences.

Football is always fun to check out in Tampa, if you’re into sports. Home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there will be no shortage of football-related fun and events. If you’re in town during NFL season, stop by a game. Or if baseball is more your thing, head down to George M. Steinbrenner Field to watch the New York Yankees practice for spring training. And there’s always St. Pete Times Forum, where you can watch the Tampa Bay Lightning play if it’s hockey season while you’re around.

Truly, you have a lot of options and things to do when you’re in Tampa. It’s just a matter of selecting what is most interesting to you and your family and going from there.

If you’re looking to get a head start on fishing this spring, you’ll definitely want to head down to Florida. Daytona Beach fishing is some of the best in the U.S. no matter what the time of year, but spring can be especially nice because the weather is moderate, the oceans are calm, and the fish are biting actively.

Since the winter was warm this year, it’s safe to expect a warmer than usual spring, which ought to be really nice for catching a variety of fish. At the moment, Daytona Beach fishing is productive, especially in terms of catching redfish on the flats.

Another popular catch for Daytona Beach fishing is seatrout, which is also found on the flats and even in drop offs. If you really want to catch a variety of fish this spring, be sure to load up on your baits, especially mullet, shrimp, and tail jigs. All of these have proven effective and reeling in a variety of catches to make your trip interesting.

Because the weather has been so strange this year, you’ll likely find that you’re catching an odd diversity of fish because fish are migrating inshore from southern Florida. Expect to see a whole host of fish show up on your lines including Black Drum, Ladyfish, Bluefish, Whiting, and Sheepshead. You’ll catch ten different kinds of fish, easy, when you go Daytona Beach fishing this spring. This makes it ideal for beginning fishing trips or taking the whole family out for a day on the water. There’s no pressure and you’re certain to reel in enough different kinds of fish to keep things interesting.

What makes Daytona Beach fishing even more appealing is how calm the waters are. If you or a friend is prone to getting sea sick, it shouldn’t be a problem this time of year. This means you’ll get to completely enjoy the experience of being out on the water without being distracted by feeling ill. Take in the beautiful weather. Enjoy the sights and sounds of seeing wildlife up close. And catch large numbers of fish with relative ease. Really, there’s no reason you shouldn’t plan your trip for the spring in Daytona Beach. It’s a great place for beginners and experienced fishermen, alike. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of going out on the open sea and this area is the perfect place to experience it first hand.

Hi everyone, and thank you for reading. This past few weeks have been challenging to say the least high pressure ridge setting over us every few days bringing very windy conditions along with rain . On the flip side getting out if you can time it right have been big payoffs . Since there hasn’t been much opportunity for fisherman to get out the big ones are stacked on the reefs from 60ft to 130ft .

Big snapper, grouper, flounder, big amberjack and cobia are all there. The water temps have quickly rising to warmer than average this time of year out of ponce inlet, Daytona Beach . This quick change could bring things in full swing with the cobia run,or could also make for a quik spring run and if the winds stay strong it might not give us much opportunity to target these awesome fish. It still doesnt mean there isn’t lots other great fishing opportunity, the redfish and trout fishing in mosquito lagoon remain strong along with the creeks in the northern end of New Smyrna Beach and Spruce creek in Daytona Beach. Try using small finger mullet or manhadden this will give better opportunity for fishermen to catch better quality fish in the creeks and mouth openings of these creeks, fishing with shrimp alot of times means little fish pecking away at your bait .

Now shrimp freelined in thebackwaters of mosquito lagoon have been my favorite in waters a foot or less especially grass flats ,finding fish is the key. Also in most areas of the lagoon is hard to get out of the wind but all the creeks in New Smyrna and Edgewater Florida are great out of the wind spots for great inshore fishing, lately Ive been taking clients in this area and producing some nice redfish along with trout in the holes and flounder along the dropoffs using a small splitshot on the line is usually sufficent for this area to fish with a #2 or #3 circle hook .

Daytona Beach Fishing is just going to keep getting better now with the warmup that is quickly warming things up. Take a trip with me and I will put you on some of the best fishing central Florida has to offer weather your wanting offshore fishing or inshore backwater fishing I have the gear and boats to get you there also for those freshwater fishermen I know exactly were to catch big trophy bass, I have it covered, you want results hire an expert that knows were the fish are and how to catch them.

Once agin thanks for reading tight lines people.

- Capt. Brad

If you like going fishing on your holidays, you can’t choose a better location than Daytona Beach. But what about during the winter months? Does the time of your compromise your Daytona Beach fishing choices? It doesn’t have to. In fact, there are tons of locations to choose from within the area that offer optimum fishing opportunities that you won’t be able to resist.

There are numerous pier, flat, and deep-sea fishing opportunities in this area, ensuring all tastes are satisfied. Key areas you’ll want to keep an eye on year round include the Ponce Inlet marinas, Tomoka Basin, Indian River lagoon, and the Deland corridor. The Ponce Inlet marinas offer deep-sea vessels for people looking to enjoy Daytona Beach fishing offshore. The Indian River lagoon and Tomoka Basin estuaries are perfect for flats fishing, if that’s more your style. And if bass fishing is what you prefer, the Deland corridor is where it’s at.

Several different kinds of fish are accessible in these areas. When Daytona Beach fishing, you will primarily find Black Drum, King Fish, Jack Crevalle, Redfish, Snook, Sea Trout, Flounder, Snapper, Cobia, Tarpon, and Mackeral. Of course, you won’t necessarily be able to catch all of these fish every day, at every time of the day, but that’s part of the fun of fishing, isn’t it? The unexpected thrill of making a catch and reeling it in to see just what it is you’ve caught. There’s nothing like it.

Beyond individual catches, you also have the option of saltwater and fresh water fishing. This makes it so truly everyone’s preferences are catered to. See now why Daytona Beach fishing is some of the best around? It truly can’t be compared to anywhere else.

Not only do you have plenty of spots from which to cast down a line, but you also have the opportunity to take in the scenic landscape this area offers. It’s amazing and will take your breath away, whether you’re an experienced fisherman or brand new to the practice. It’ll be hard to find another location that beats those available here, that’s for certain.

Whether you head out on a chartered boat for some deep sea fishing or you simply rest a rod in a holder on a pier, Daytona Beach offers fishing experiences for every kind of fisherman, year round. Even during the chill of winter, you can enjoy reeling in salt and freshwater fish, alike.

February is usually a bitter cold month here in Daytona Beach , its looking up this year with our fronts not producing much punch. The winds tend to calm down fast after they pass and within a day or so after it passes it warms back up into the middle 70s. You couldn’t ask for better fishing weather . This warm weather means water temps don’t drop into cold enough temps to slow down the bite, this is shaping up to be a awesome month ahead .

I have recently took clients to all areas of the river from up around daytona beach ,in spruce creek ,to all the way down to mosquito lagoon and out offshore with awesome fishing success. We have landed lots of redfish in the skinny water up in the lagoon to catching good numbers of grouper up around ponce inlet in some deep holes as well as other mixed bag catches of trout, flounder, sheephead, drum and lots of bluefish. The reds have been around oyster bars feeding on shrimp or cutbait preferably mullet, they will also eat artificial, like nuclear shrimp or new penny shad flavored baits. In the north end of the river up around New Smyrna and Daytona Beach I have had most of my success catching fish using live bait.

I prefer most of all manhadden or small pinfish , and fiddler crabs, putting a little more weight on than usual helps to get to the bottom faster avoiding the millions of bluefish that will try and eat everything you throw out. I call them saltwater parahna, they will eat each other feeding these fish are very aggressive . Finding deeper holes in this area have been my best success catching good size grouper and sometimes an occasional snook. Big drum like these deep dropoffs as well ,the sheephead have been in good numbers around pilings of docks and seawalls using the fiddler crabs and shrimp are the best bet.

I have had several trips recently to the offshore reefs and wrecks just outside Ponce Inlet ,the results have been unreal. I loaded up baits inside the river again using my favorite live bait , hooking up on really huge red snapper one after another and mixed in some grouper, mango snapper, weakfish, trigger fish, seabass, and if the sun is out and warm that day occasionally a big cobia will come cruising by for a snack. This one fish will feed an entire family they range 20 pounds up to 80 pounds and exceptionally tasty. If you have been fishing here in Daytona Beach before but haven’t tried different places to fish and of course not caught fish then you better get on board with me and let me show you what our waters have to offer. I have studied every body of water here and know when and where to catch these fish. Thank you for reading and if you have any questions ever, feel free to contact me ,enjoy your vacation ,come fish with me and catch a memory of a lifetime ,Capt. Brad

Though much of the rest of North America may be a little way behind, Spring comes early to Florida and it doesn’t take long for temperatures to rise, both the air and the sea. If you come from one of the Northern United States then, or from Canada, a trip down to Daytona Beach is a great way to get the warmth back into you after a cold winter and a good way to make a start on your summer tan.

Whether you go for a spring vacation to Daytona Beach during the spring break if you have children in school or go beforehand, either alone, with a partner or with friends, you will find plenty for everyone to do in Daytona Beach, not least Daytona Beach Fishing.

For many people indeed the fact that there is so much for the rest of the family to do is ideal so they can keep busy while you take a Daytona Beach fishing trip out on to the ocean on a charter vessel.

February and March are perhaps the best times to go Daytona Beach fishing in fact, Mackerel, King fish, Sea Trout, Cobia and more are all plentiful around these times. In March and into April larger fish such as Mahi Mahi and Wahoo start to move into Florida’s waters and Marlin as well can be found further out passing through the vicinity.

Daytona Beach fishing is possible off of the beach and piers as well of course, perhaps better if you want to spend more time with your family and they want to relax on the beach. The beaches in Florida round Daytona Beach have beautiful fine white sand, ideal for sunbathing on all day or for younger children to play upon. On the outskirts of the city it can be very quiet on the beaches during the Spring, especially prior to Spring break, closer to downtown Daytona though there is a lot more to see and do all year round. There is the boardwalk area of the city with its amusements and rides right by the beach, you can easily spend a day or two here enjoying the attractions.

A little way out from the center of Daytona Beach is the Daytona International speedway, home of Nascar there are various events all year round but you may of course want to time your visit to Daytona Beach so you can enjoy the iconic Daytona 500, this is usually in mid to late February.

Daytona’s motorsport heritage goes back to long before the Daytona International Speedway was built however, races were originally on the beach and Daytona is still one of the few places you can legally drive on the beach: if you want to try out this unique experience though you of course need to come in the low season so February or March are ideal; you could try a bit of fishing from your vehicle if it is colder day even but watch out for the tide.
