Best Things to Do in Tampa

Fishing in Tampa FLThe next time you’re in Florida, you should really check out some of the fun things to do in the Tampa area. For starters, you might want to consider Tampa fishing since there are docks all over the place that allow you to cast down a line and make a catch. Or, you can check out some of the wildlife attractions like Busch Gardens Africa. This park features roller coasters and other theme park fare, but it also has a Serengeti Plain section where you can enjoy wildlife.

Another nearby attraction is the Lowry Park Zoo, which offers a variety of attractions for animal lovers everywhere like lorikeets and manatees. Or, you can check out the Florida Aquarium, which offers access to all sorts of sea life. You don’t have to just partake in Tampa fishing to enjoy these creatures. Rather, this is a great way to bring the whole family along to see all different kinds of fish and mammals native to the region.

Yet another outdoors-themed attraction is the Big Cat Rescue. It’s a wildlife sanctuary spanning 45-acres that’s home to 140 different wild cats. Tigers, lions, you name it, it’s there. You can go on a guided tour of the entire area, watch the animals being fed and generally being cats. What’s great is all of these animals were rescued from circuses, zoos, or homes.

If you want to enjoy the beach, you’ll need to leave Tampa a bit and head into Pinellas County, where Clearwater Beach and Caladesi Island State Park are both terrific options for relaxing and basking in the sun. And remember: docks are nearby, so you can easily enjoy Tampa fishing while you’re at it. Or, head out on a chartered boat for some deep sea fishing experiences.

Football is always fun to check out in Tampa, if you’re into sports. Home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there will be no shortage of football-related fun and events. If you’re in town during NFL season, stop by a game. Or if baseball is more your thing, head down to George M. Steinbrenner Field to watch the New York Yankees practice for spring training. And there’s always St. Pete Times Forum, where you can watch the Tampa Bay Lightning play if it’s hockey season while you’re around.

Truly, you have a lot of options and things to do when you’re in Tampa. It’s just a matter of selecting what is most interesting to you and your family and going from there.
